THE STORY THAT GAVE COLD CREEK ITS NAME

A SMALL CREEK FLOWS ALONG AN UNASSUMING PLOT OF LAND NEAR AIKEN, SOUTH CAROLINA. THE WATER STAYS A CONSTANT 55 DEGREES, EVEN IN THE SUMMER HEAT. IT BRINGS LIFE TO THE ABUNDANT SOUTHERN PLANTS THAT GROW THERE.

For over 40 years this tributary of the Savannah River has nurtured a namesake enterprise that began with one greenhouse on its banks.  As young newlyweds, the Walkers invested all they had into growing there, drawing from the creek’s sustaining cool waters. With much work and sacrifice they created a thriving business, devoted to creating beautiful garden spaces, from cultivating Southern species to developing climate-conscious landscape design throughout their local community and beyond.

Like the well-tended gardens of our beloved South, Cold Creek Nurseries has continued to grow, and our spirit remains unchanged. We believe in a hard day’s work, and in our community. We continue to create experiences that invite peace, refuge and connection. These deeply-held values guide us. We invite you to be part of our Southern story and to share it with love of land and community.
